1. Our commitment

Recreo Consilium is committed to making www.recreo.co.uk accessible and usable for as many people as possible.

Accessibility is consistent with the wider Recreo Standard: clear communication, respect for the reader and the removal of unnecessary barriers. Our website should be easy to read, navigate and understand.

2. Website scope

This statement applies to www.recreo.co.uk. It does not necessarily apply to third-party websites, embedded services or externally hosted content that may be linked from the website.

3. Accessibility standard

Our intended accessibility benchmark is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 AA standard. Recreo Consilium is not a public sector body, but we use recognised accessibility principles as a matter of good practice.

The website should be designed and maintained so that accessibility is considered as part of content creation, design, development and future updates.

4. What users should be able to do

We aim for users to be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings;

  • zoom in without text spilling off the screen;

  • navigate the website using a keyboard where possible;

  • understand page structure through clear headings and consistent navigation;

  • read content written in clear, plain English;

  • use assistive technologies such as screen readers where the site design and third-party tools allow.

5. Compliance status

The website is intended to be developed towards WCAG 2.2 AA. The website has not yet been independently audited for full conformance. Recreo Consilium will keep accessibility under review as the website develops.

Recommended publication wording once a basic review has been completed: 'This website is partially compliant with WCAG 2.2 AA while we continue to review and improve accessibility.'

6. Known limitations

The following areas should be checked before publication of this statement:

  • colour contrast across all text, buttons and links;

  • keyboard navigation and visible focus states;

  • heading hierarchy and page landmarks;

  • alternative text for images, logos and meaningful graphics;

  • PDF and Word document accessibility for downloadable content;

  • third-party scripts, embedded forms, fonts, maps or media;

  • mobile behaviour and text resizing.

7. Feedback and contact

If you experience difficulty using the website or need information in a different format, please contact us:

Email: hello@recreo.co.uk
Website: www.recreo.co.uk

We will review accessibility feedback and respond within a reasonable period. Where appropriate, we will consider reasonable adjustments or alternative formats.

8. How we maintain accessibility

Accessibility should be considered whenever content is added, pages are redesigned, documents are uploaded or third-party tools are introduced.

  • Use clear page titles and headings.

  • Write descriptive link text.

  • Avoid relying on colour alone to communicate meaning.

  • Maintain sufficient colour contrast.

  • Provide alternative text for meaningful images.

  • Avoid unnecessary PDFs where HTML content would be more accessible.

  • Review accessibility when making website changes.

9. Review and update

This Accessibility Statement should be reviewed at least annually and whenever significant changes are made to the website.
